Got something you need to get off your chest? Teethparty is an anonymous advice website where you can share your worries and respond to other people’s, all within a little universe of teeth and planets.

Created by industrial design student and YouTuber Ehyun, it began as a way for her subscribers to ask questions without attaching their Instagram accounts, or any other personal information. We caught up with her about its Minecraft inspirations, the realities of keeping a growing website running and how beautiful it is to watch what happens when you give strangers space to open up.

Hi! I’m Ehyun, and I make a little bit of everything. I run a YouTube channel based in Korea with 35k subscribers, where I make lifestyle and advice videos. I’m also an industrial design student, currently taking a gap year before my senior year, and I design things like diffusers, perfume bottles, and 3D art! I recently created a website called teethparty too!

I like creating things that make people feel something (in a good way)!

I originally built this website for my subscribers. For my advice videos, they used to send in their stories and questions through the Instagram question sticker, which was inconvenient and made it hard for them to be honest (since it’s linked to their IG accounts). So I thought, why not make a cute anonymous platform where they can throw in their problems, and I’ll pick a few for my videos?

So actually, teethparty is the name of my YouTube channel. It’s a nickname my friends gave me because my teeth show a lot when I smile.

The bizarre concept of teeth, toothfairies, and teethronauts came naturally, because I’m literally called Teethparty and my subscribers are called cavities and toothfairies lol

I first discovered the joy of building a community of like-minded people through my YouTube channel. My videos focus on the advice I would’ve wanted to hear while studying abroad in high school and during my first years of college: positivity, friendships, relationships, fear, and more. So naturally, most of my subscribers are young women who are either abroad on their own or hoping to study abroad, and who are struggling with the things school never teaches us! Which is how to live life!! How crazy.

I’m creating the things my younger self would’ve wanted, so it comes naturally and doesn’t feel like work at all! I love making videos and updating this platform because it also heals my inner self.

I study industrial design, so for my projects I had to teach myself 3D modeling, visual presentation, and web design. I learned a bit of coding in middle school, so I know the basics. I make all my assets in Figma and Blender, and I use Claude Code for the coding!

The most challenging part of making this website was the hosting. I’ve made and hosted a portfolio website before, but never anything on this scale. I’ve gone through a lot of trial and error with data usage, and the overload ended up costing me a lot of money 🙁 But I’m learning so much from this experience and stabilizing the website day by day!

Ooh, I’ve never played Kind Words before, but I’ll definitely check it out!

I wanted this website to be the opposite of social media. Social media is so curated, with the best pictures and captions and all these aesthetics like the cool girl, the niche girl, the trendy girl, etc. I wanted all those labels gone, and to show the raw thoughts that actually occupy our heads 24/7.

I’m guilty of asking AI for emotional advice… I actually used it a lot when I was in a relationship, because talking to someone about it made me feel like a burden, like they’d eventually get sick of hearing it. But the problem is that AI can’t empathize with you. It can’t tell you it gets it because it’s been through something similar, share what it did in that situation, and promise you’ll be okay because it was too.

At the end of the day, all we want is to be seen. And in this individualistic, isolating, high-tech society, it’s hard to be genuinely seen under all the masks we wear.

So yes, I wanted that sense of vulnerability: to see and be seen beneath the layers.

When I first made this website, I thought, “What if people don’t open up or put much effort into their answers?” But I soon realized how much people pour their hearts into them. A lot of the answers made me tear up because of how touching they are.

Many people have messaged me saying the website helped them feel relieved after venting and interacting with others. I know exactly how that feels, because it’s literally what journaling does for you! I’m so grateful I could build a safe space for people to feel better.

One comment that made me laugh said, “He has the observational skills of a peanut.”

The planet itself is heavily influenced by Minecraft. I actually created and ran a server back in 2012, when I was around 8 or 9, and right now I feel exactly like my 8-year-old self running that server. I love games that give you endless creative freedom, like The Sims 4, so those two are my top inspirations at the moment.

As I mentioned, I went over the limits of one hosting platform (I’m currently migrating to another), and the bills got outrageously high, to the point where I can’t cover them myself. I’ve been paying for everything out of my own pocket, but I’m also a gap-year student without a stable job. So I’ve been looking for ways to get support from the community to keep the website from disappearing!

And like I said, I love games that give you creative freedom, so I wanted to bring that into the website! I’m starting with planet ownership, where you can grow, harvest, and decorate your own planet to make it feel cozy. I’m slowly adding more decorations, so I’ll keep you updated!

I want people to visit Teethparty and feel loved, and to know they’re not alone. I want them to find comfort in knowing that we go through very similar things, and very different ones too. I want people to use it instead of doomscrolling or asking ChatGPT whether they should break up with their boyfriends.

For anyone who wants to make their own website: do it the moment the thought comes to you! We all have these weird and wonderful ideas but struggle to bring them to life. There’s nothing you can’t make. It’ll look shitty at first, but it’ll get more polished as you go. <3
