In a sea of fast fashion and trend-driven aesthetics, Breromi stands out as a brand that merges nostalgia, technology, and playfulness into strikingly unique accessories. From magnetic hair clips to plush bows, Bremoni’s creations feel like treasures from a dreamlike, futuristic realm. Each piece is a perfect blend of functionality and whimsy, reflecting the brand’s dedication to innovative design.
We caught up with Bre, the owner of Breromi, to dive into the inspiration behind these captivating accessories and explore how she blends technology with her passion for handcrafted, nostalgic pieces.
Your brand Breromi feels like it’s made for a digital dreamscape—where did the inspiration for these magnetic hair clips come from?
The scrunchie shape trend inspired the magnetic hair clips. I wanted to innovate the idea of shape around hairstyle and incorporate it into my 3D printing. Using magnets to attach the two sides of the hair clips was a last-minute thought I came up with when designing magnetic hair clip products. I had many drafts with ways the sides would attach, including a Lego attachment version, but using magnets was the most remarkable and most effective outcome.
From magnetic flowers to plush bows, your hair accessories are both whimsical and functional. How do you merge these two worlds in your designs?
As a designer and creative, I do not limit myself to a single medium. I love to explore different crafts and ways to make items because some are more effective than others. I started by cutting and sewing designs. Then, I transitioned into polymer clay sculpting and 3D printing. I don’t think it is a matter of merging worlds; it is more about using different mediums to create the same style of whimsical products that fit into my world.
Breromi’s pieces seem to dance between nostalgia and futurism. How do you balance these elements, and where do you see this aesthetic evolving?
The terms nostalgia and futurism describe my brand perfectly. I love tapping into designs that remind me of my childhood while also incorporating innovative elements into the product. I see myself exploring more mediums in the future and incorporating even more futurism into my brand’s aesthetic while still maintaining a nostalgic touch.
Your accessories scream individuality. What kind of person do you imagine wearing a Breromi piece?
I create accessories for people who love statement pieces. I love to dabble in aesthetics like coquette, fairycore, Y2K, and others. Some of my items are more whimsical than others, but they all have a unique feel to them. Expressing yourself through fashion allows you to showcase your inner persona through your clothing pieces. I can imagine anyone who loves a cute statement accessory to add to their style wearing my work.
There’s a tech-savvy edge to Breromi’s accessories, with some being 3D printed. How does technology influence your creative process?
I love technology and how designers are using it to incorporate it into this newer medium of “physical fashion.” This inspired me to start using my creative ideas through 3D printing. It allows me to easily draft an idea, model/design it, and then start the production process.
Breromi’s motto is ‘for your inner princess.’ What does that phrase mean to you, and how do you hope it resonates with your audience?
“For your inner princess” is derived from “for your inner child.” I like to incorporate nostalgia for things I loved as a kid into my designs. My pieces also remind me of items you would see in an actual fairytale.
Your work has a DIY spirit that feels very now. How does the concept of accessibility play into your designs?
My work has a DIY spirit because that’s what I do! Everything I’ve sold from my brand so far has been handcrafted, designed, and assembled by me. Although I love the character of being a handmade business, I would love to venture out and have many of my designs manufactured in the future, so I have even more free time to create new things. If you have a design idea, figure out the best/most affordable way to make it and start creating. Creation is something anyone can do if you put your mind to it.
Fashion often leans towards the grand and unattainable, but Breromi’s pieces are unapologetically playful and accessible. What’s your take on luxury in the age of Instagram?
I always want my pieces to be affordable. I have a wide range of products with different price points so there is something cool for everyone to purchase depending on your budget. I price items depending on how long it takes to make them and the cost of the material in mind. I understand luxury fashion; when you build a name for yourself, people will start paying for the brand’s name at some point. That should be an earned luxury for designers, but never underprice your work; that is a big no, no. People who understand the craftsmanship that goes into it are your target audience.
In a world saturated with fast fashion, Breromi stands out with its unique and thoughtful designs. How important is sustainability to you, and how do you incorporate it into your brand?
I am not a big fan of fast fashion. When it comes to designing and making products, I am all about good quality and sustainability. When it comes to choosing materials, I think about quality first, and then I determine the price point based on that.
Lastly, if Breromi were a character in a sci-fi film, who would they be, and what would their mission be in this universe?
Breromi gives main character energy, so she would definitely follow “the chosen one” arc. She would wear cute accessories while saving the universe.
